BYD LVL at a glance
BYD LVL is aimed at family houses and small businesses: it stores the daytime solar surplus for the evening and the night. The battery management system talks to the inverter over CAN, RS485, Ethernet, so the inverter must list BYD LVL as an approved battery before you order. Protection ratings in this range: IP20, IP55. Units rated IP54 or higher can be mounted outdoors within the temperature limits in the datasheet. The range includes separate battery modules and control units, so a system can start at the minimum configuration and grow later within the stack limits that BYD specifies.
Tip from practice
Low voltage packs run at about 48 V and therefore carry high current. Size the DC cable and the fuse for the full discharge current, not for the average load, and keep the cable run between battery and inverter short.
How to choose a BYD LVL configuration
The table lists every BYD LVL product in this category with the key figures we hold for it. Choose in this order: inverter compatibility first, then usable capacity against evening and night consumption, then power and siting.

Frequently asked questions about BYD LVL
What usable capacity does BYD LVL offer?
The BYD LVL products listed here offer 15.36 kWh of usable capacity, and the modular design lets you add capacity later. Compare usable capacity rather than nominal capacity when you size the system.
Is BYD LVL a low voltage or a high voltage battery?
BYD LVL is a low voltage battery. It connects to inverters with a 48 V battery input.
Which inverters work with BYD LVL?
Any inverter that lists BYD LVL on its approved battery list. The battery communicates over CAN, RS485, Ethernet. Matching the voltage is not enough on its own, because the inverter and the battery management system must use the same protocol and firmware.
Can a BYD LVL system be expanded later?
Yes. Additional modules can be added within the maximum stack size that BYD allows. Keep new modules in the same product family and firmware generation, and expand while the existing pack is still relatively new.
Can BYD LVL be installed outdoors?
Units rated IP54 or higher can be installed outdoors within the temperature range in the datasheet. The ratings in this range are IP20, IP55.
What is BYD LVL used for?
Mainly for family houses and small businesses. It stores the daytime solar surplus for the evening and the night and, with a suitable hybrid inverter, can also supply backup circuits during a grid outage.
Where can I buy BYD LVL batteries?
ONSA Plus supplies BYD LVL to installers and resellers across Europe. This category lists 3 BYD LVL products with current prices and availability, and there is no minimum order.
Usable capacity, backup behaviour and inverter compatibility depend on the specific inverter model, the wiring of the installation and the manufacturer's approved combination list.
About ONSA Plus
Why installers across Europe buy storage from us
ONSA Plus is a European B2B distributor of photovoltaics, battery storage, heat pumps and EV charging stations. In our own EU warehouses we keep over 1,500 products from 25+ brands, including Huawei, Solis, SolaX and Dyness.
We are not just a trading company. We design and service energy systems ourselves, so we answer questions on battery sizing, inverter pairing and backup wiring from engineering practice, not from a catalogue. There is no minimum order, so you buy what the job needs.
