A research station of the National Forest Centre (Národné lesnícke centrum, NLC) in Gabčíkovo, south-west Slovakia, needed reliable backup power for its research equipment. The solution is a SolisStorage EverCore C&I energy storage system with 125 kW of rated power and 1,305 kWh of storage capacity.
The challenge
Research stations depend on equipment that runs continuously. A power outage can stop instruments, interrupt long-term measurements and put sensitive devices at risk. The station needed a backup that takes over immediately and can carry the load for as long as necessary.
The solution: SolisStorage EverCore
The station now relies on a SolisStorage EverCore commercial and industrial storage system rated at 125 kW with 1,305 kWh of capacity. EverCore highlights:
- Switchover to backup power in under 10 ms
- Integrated PCS, STS and energy management (EMS) in one system
- LFP battery cells rated for 8,000 cycles
- Built for outdoor use: IP66 inverter, IP55 cabinet, C5 anti-corrosion
- Modular and scalable up to 1.25 MW / 15.66 MWh

Why battery storage for backup power?
Compared with a diesel generator, a battery system takes over in milliseconds, runs silently and needs no fuel deliveries or test runs. Outside of outages, the same system can also store energy for everyday use.

Frequently asked questions
How fast does SolisStorage EverCore switch to backup power?
According to Solis specifications, EverCore switches to backup in under 10 milliseconds. That is fast enough for connected equipment to keep running through a grid outage.
How long can a 1,305 kWh system provide backup power?
It depends on the connected load. As a rough guide, divide usable capacity by the load: a 50 kW load could be supplied for around 20 hours or more from a fully charged system, before conversion losses.
Can battery storage replace a diesel generator?
For many sites, yes. Batteries switch over instantly, run silently and need no fuel. For very long outages, storage can be combined with a solar system or a generator.
